The best situation is where you can have one of the cameras (staying on the same switch the camera was already on if possible) in the same room as your VMS monitor. Fancy tools and analyzers can do a real-good job at this, but usually just a couple informal tests will reveal the problem.įirst thing to do is dedicate a ipad or smartphone to being a digital timepiece (many free apps) because some accuracy is helpful. Start by profiling your lag: Lag, of course, is made up of several components and therefore breaking out the individual segments the lag can help to identify those areas that your time is best spent improving. 5 is pretty normal, but you can still profile if you want.:) Oops! I read it as 1-2 seconds of lag, not. So not to bore you, I limited the amount of details, but will be more than happy to supply whatever info needed. I've searched IPVM for articles/discussions on this matter, but cannot pinpoint the issue.įirst, I'd like to ask if this time lag in live viewing is normal? (system not in record mode) If this is not normal, I would love any suggestions on possible directions to focus my research/training. Everything is set-up & works great except for a ~1/2 second lag or delay from the movement occurring in the FoV to the image on the screen (live viewing only).

I installed a trial version of HD Witness (actually Digital Watchdog version) and for now just using the software for live viewing to play around with the system.

I set-up a simple test system running off a custom PC I built (i7 based) & a PoE Cisco 300 series switch and two Hikvision dome ip cameras. With that said, I would appreciate some input on this issue. I also do not expect a complete solution since I am a firm believer in solving things on your own. If anyone has any good suggestions that fit my list above, I'm all ears.Let me preface this question by saying that this is my first attempt at designing/setting-up a custom video system.

I know Blue Iris is kind of the standard by which other NVR software are compared to and I have no problem paying the one-time cost for a BI license, but because it doesn't use a server-client model, if I have BI installed on my home server, I will need multiple BI licenses to access the camera feed & recordings from other local PCs! At $65 per license, that quickly adds up!!! I know BI supports a web interface but I've read it doesn't have all the functions of a BI application. So far, I've found Luxriot Evo CE that checked most of the requirements I've listed, except for event clips & notification, and an intuitive timeline based viewer. not just one)), then I would be much more willing to support iVideon then to look elsewhere.

If iVideon offered a one-time purchase for a non-cloud license (that allows me to access the local archive on mobile and on web for a reasonable # of cameras (ie. It's really unfortunate as I have been looking for a comparable NVR software that have:Īn intuitive timeline based, zoom-able/scrubb-able interfaceįree or an affordable one-time purchase (non-subscription based) But mobile & web access is now gone with no paid subscription plan. The local server access using their desktop client program is still available and free.
